Team members at Wilko, situated in the Market Centre, Crewe, recently raised some much needed dough for Cancer Research UK by hosting a charity cake sale and coffee morning.
The team baked a variety of sweet treats and invited customers to enjoy them, along with refreshing beverages, in return for a small donation – raising an impressive £240 for the worthwhile cause.
Edwina Wright, assistant store manager at Wilko in Crewe, said:
“Our team members really outdid themselves with their baking expertise and the cakes went down a storm with customers.
This event is just one example of how we work to maintain a strong relationship within the local community, in addition to raising funds for this invaluable charity.
We hope our support for Cancer Research UK will really help in the fight against this terrible disease.”
Wilko is committed to Britain’s high streets and prides itself on being a community focused retailer, actively supporting local charities, community groups and empowering its team members to support great causes that are locally important to them.
Sarah Peach, Cancer Research UK, said:
“Every step we make towards beating cancer relies on the support of local businesses and communities.
All the funds raised by Wilko, including the fantastic amount raised through the Crewe store’s cake sale and coffee morning, will go a long way to support Cancer Research UK’s scientists and researchers in their goal of bringing forward the day when all cancers are cured.”
