The Peter Pan Nursery Has Announced That Funding Is Due To End

The Peter Pan Nursery for Children with Special Needs today (September 4th) announced that the lottery funding which has supported the charity for the past 5 years is due to come to an end on the 31st October 2013.

Peter Pan Nursery1After two applications to renew the funding for a further term, the charity has been unsuccessful and now face a difficult future as they fight to replace the outstanding £100,000.

Sophia Baker, Head of Fundraising released this statement regarding the news:
“We regret to inform charity staff, families and both corporate and community supporters of the charity, that on Friday 30th August 2013 we received a letter confirming that we have been unsuccessful in our application to secure funding from the National Lottery for 2013-14.
“The National Lottery has supported us with funding of £100,000 a year since 2008 and it is now due to run out on the 31st October 2013.
Due to the high demand of applications it is becoming increasing difficult to secure second round funding from the National Lottery therefore, the setting will be seeking alternative funding to cover the costs.
“For the charity to exist at its current capacity we need to raise £250,000 a year.
The Lottery funding has formed a large part of this fundraising target and we are now looking at ways we can replace this loss.
“Now is the time, more than ever before, that we need to call upon our corporate and community supporters to help us raise the funds we need to keep our doors open to families in Staffordshire and Cheshire.”

The Peter Pan Nursery for Children with Special Needs provides professional support and care to children from birth to five years old who have a wide range of disabilities, conditions and syndromes, such as Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Visual and Hearing Impairments, Physical delays and Speech and Language delays.

It is the only setting of its kind offering one-to-one and one-to-two educational support for children in Staffordshire and Cheshire and was recently awarded ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.
The Peter Pan Nursery has a number of scheduled fundraising events on the winter 2013 calendar to help replace the missing funds from the lottery.
