The Crewe Clean Team February News Round Up

The Crewe Clean Team have been busy bees last month and chairman Dave Macdonald is very pleased on what seems like a bumper month for the hard working Volunteers.

This is a taster of what these people get upto in the community, have a look and see if this is something you would like to join in with as they are always looking for people to join the group and make new friends.

Here are some comments by Chairman Dave.

  • On February 15th, 10 members met at the Merlin Pub at 10am and worked for 70 minutes on the local greenways. We filled 22 bin bags with assorted rubbish and two with cans for recycling. We then withdrew to the Coppenhall Methodist Church for refreshments – thank you to Clive Taylor for providing these.
  • In the evening, myself and Margaret Smith (Team coordinator) attended the Mayor’s Charity Ball at Crewe Hall. We were very proud to receive the Crewe Town Council Community Award – “For contributing positively to the community and delivering hard work throughout the past year in Crewe” – from Mayor of Crewe Councillor Irene Faseyi.
  • On 21st February we were invited by Frank Baldwin to join representatives from 43 local charities and community groups at the Rotary Day meeting at the library (1:30pm-3:30pm). We were one of several of the groups to give a talk about their activities in front of the Mayor of Cheshire East, Dorothy Flude and the Crewe Town Mayor, Irene Faseyi. The ‘Day’ is held every year on (or about) the anniversary of the formation of Rotary International in 1905. Rotarians, Frank Baldwin, Tom Protheroe and Jerry Park informed the audience about the workings of the Club, both in Crewe and internationally.
  • We were delighted to receive a donation from the Rotary Club of Crewe during February. A huge thanks goes out to the club from the whole of the Clean Team for the kindness.
