The festival showcases two days packed with a huge variety of vehicles from vintage to new with the event building up to a superb mixed parade of 250 vehicles on the Sunday through the town.
Committee members have been busy putting the final details into this year’s free entry event which takes place over the weekend Sat the 26th & Sun 27th April 2014. www.sandbachtransportfestival.co.uk
Organisers have changed the format to include a Classic Car Show on Saturday on the Common with a Music Festival on the Cobbles.
Nantwich Town Band will be entertaining the car enthusiasts on the common with various sets throughout the day. The band in November 2013 celebrated with a 30th Anniversary concert under new musical director Rob Stevenson.
Music Acts confirmed for Saturday are: Shae, Sam Lyon, Phil Maddocks & Nick Bayes, Josh Walker Band, The Robin Pierce Band, The Eyres and Dirty Vertebrae.
Care has been taken to provide a mix of styles that will grow with intensity throughout the afternoon and it is hoped that people will enjoy a visit to the local pubs on the cobbles whilst listening to the music and maybe have a bacon bap or two provided by Sandbach Round Table.
There will be Birds of Prey on the park, fairground rides and a whole host of things for young children to enjoy. The Art Exhibition will be on in the Masonic Hall as previously for the duration of the weekend too.
Sunday’s Annual Festival which began to celebrate “Truck Town” Sandbach and its truck manufacturing heritage is now in its 23rd year visitors can expect to see a whole host of unusual and interesting vehicles including Sandbach High School’s newest car “Dougal”.
Dougal was constructed by a team of about 30 girls who range from 11-18 years.
The team have learnt to develop skills from design and aerodynamics to communication, organisation and leadership.
The battery powered vehicle will be racing at various other events in 2014 with a top speed recorded at Rockingham of 53mph.
We are very honoured to have Foden’s Band leading the parade on the Sunday; the band has been sponsored for the event by The Old Hall Sandbach and will be performing a concert at The Old Hall afterwards.
The Sunday Music Festival on the Cobbles will provide many professional acts that fit together nicely and who are used to working together.
Tom Seals and Nicks Bayes will warm up the crowd before the parade with a mix of popular songs.
The acts after the parade are all up-tempo modern folk acts that will engage and entertain the crowd whilst maybe indulging in a Hog Roast Bap provided by Sandbach Round Table.
Music Acts confirmed for Sunday are Tom Seals with Nick Bayes, Paul Henshaw Band, Headsticks and Sons of Clogger.
Sandbach Fire Station will be hosting an open day with a variety of entertainment going on at their premises next to Sandbach Library and there will be lots of amusements including the Birds of Prey for children on Sandbach Park.
