Sandbach Markets Spring To Life

Sandbach’s markets are taking part in the national initiative – Love Your Local Market.

sandbach marketAfter taking over responsibility for the town’s markets, Sandbach Town Council has started to look at ways to improve and develop both the indoor and outdoor markets that take place on Thursdays and Saturdays.

Love Your Local Market is a scheme that offers people the opportunity to try out trading on a market stall with an introductory offer.
Sandbach Markets are offering new traders a chance to trade for £5 for a stall per week for 4 weeks while they establish themselves.

This will give new traders the chance to try out Sandbach’s markets for a nominal fee and hopefully introduce some new products to the town’s markets.

Love Your Local Market also aims to promote local markets to the communities they serve by encouraging customers to support their local markets and help keep them as an integral part of a lively and vibrant town centre.

Pete Turner of Sandbach Town Council said of the scheme:
“Our markets reflect the town’s heritage but also the town’s future.
The markets offer a great mix of products but also another level of vitality to the town centre that we need to promote to the town as well as potential visitors to Sandbach.
Markets are also a great way to test a new business with very low start up costs and we have made it even easier by having an introductory offer for all new traders whether they are established or new to market trading”.

Sandbach has a large Charter Market on Thursdays with around 70 stalls indoor and outdoor as well as a Saturday Market based in and around the Town Hall. As well as these, there is also the regular Farmers’ Market on the 2nd Saturday of each month and the new artisan-style Crosses Market on the 4th Saturday of each month. Both of these are held on the historic cobbled Market Square in the town Centre.
