Prepare to pull on your walking boots, ladies, it’s time to register for St Luke’s (Cheshire) Hospice’s annual Midnight Walk – the most significant to date, as the hospice reaches a major milestone, and sets an ambitious 10 year £2m target!

St Luke's Cheshire HospiceWhile every year has been a spectacular success, this year is particularly special as the hospice will be celebrating the Midnight Walk’s 10th anniversary.

Throughout its 10 years, the ladies-only Midnight Walk has been a cornerstone of fundraising for the hospice, helping to raise more than £1.8 million since the annual event began. This year the hospice hopes to raise another £200,000 which will take their Midnight Walk total to an impressive £2m in 10 years!

The funds raised from the Walk help support St Luke’s (Cheshire) Hospice’s invaluable work in caring for people from Mid and South Cheshire suffering from cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. The hospice is a non-profit making organisation, funded by primarily from voluntary contributions.

To join in the fundraising drive, ladies will be able to register online at from 7th February to take part in the walk on 28 June 2014.

Around 1,000 ladies are expected to get together for this fantastic event.
The walk covers a total of 13.1 miles with the route beginning at Reaseheath College in Nantwich and takes them through Nantwich and Crewe.

However, if that sounds a bit too far, there’s always the option to partake in the Half Moon walk, which will take you on a 6.5-mile route of the walk.

The atmosphere throughout the walk is always very upbeat, with walkers encouraging each other and making new friends. But it is the beginning of the event that is a sight to behold, with participants all wearing brightly coloured t-shirts.

Many participants complete the walk in memory of a lost loved one, or have family or friends who are currently battling cancer or other life-threatening illnesses.

Meanwhile others are keen to take part and do their bit to raise vital funds for an incredibly worthwhile cause.

Jane Thompson, Head of Event Management at St Luke’s (Cheshire) Hospice said:
“The Midnight Walk is a great way to get involved with fundraising for St Luke’s (Cheshire) Hospice.
While it is a challenge because 13.1 miles is quite a long way, it is a lot of fun and lovely to see the ladies all coming together.”
