RedShift and Rotary Raise £850 In Aid Of MRI Scanner Appeal and Head Injured People

Scanner AppealRedShift Radio, the online and not-for-profit radio station serving South Cheshire, hosted a monster 60 hour Broadcast on 22nd May, raising £850 for Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity MRI Scanner appeal and Head Injured People (HIP) in Cheshire.

The event, which ran in association with the Crewe & Nantwich Weaver Rotary Club, featured many fantastic highlights including ‘The Solicitor Showdown’  involving Hall Smith Whittingham and Hibberts Solicitors  going head to head in a crazy competition which saw them writing and reciting limericks, running around the block, making cakes and wearing ‘mad hair’ for the day.

Liz SouthallLiz Southall, Station Founder said:
“I am really proud of the RedShift Radio team, so many volunteers have been involved in either presenting or promoting our charity broadcast and they have really got stuck in to what was a tiring, yet really fun way to raise money for two of our Charity Hub members”.

Charlotte Birch, the main organiser said:
“I loved being given the opportunity and responsibility to organise this event. It has confirmed to me that after three years of volunteering at RedShift I really want to go into event management and am so happy that there is now a strong possibility for me to undertake that at RedShift Radio now I have finished my college course”.

The event also involved the grand final of The Bigger Picture, a feature that ran on the Geoff Ethertons Show, The Bigger Picture.

The event was sponsored by Wulvern Housing, which involved the ‘Battle of Biscuit’ whereby 33 biscuits were marks on taste and ‘duncabilty’.

Clare Emerton, Charity Fundraiser & Co-ordinator comments:
‘We’d like to thank RedShift Radio and Rotary for choosing HIP as one of the charities they are supporting this year.
Almost 2,500 people a year in Cheshire suffer a head injury, so we’re extremely grateful for the support from the public so far to help our fundraising efforts’.

Laura Riddle, Charity Manager for Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity comments:
“We’d like to thank RedShift and Rotary for choosing the MRI Scanner Appeal as a beneficiary of the broadcast.
It’s great to see so many people get behind the MRI Scanner Appeal, support their local community and contribute to the £1 million we need for a new MRI Scanner”.
