Deposit your unwanted or unloved bras in one of the Against Breast Cancer Bra banks based in Crewe and you will be helping to raise vital funds for dedicated research to improve detection and survival of Breast Cancer.
The Wishing Well project based at Jubilee House in Crewe are backing this UK wide campaign, they are appealing for members of the public to join in and donate Bras for their collection bank ready to be sent off to the Against Breast Cancer charity.
Against Breast Cancer have teamed up with BCR Global Textiles who help small businesses in Africa.
Through their textile project they are preventing valuable textiles going to landfill giving them a new lease of life in developing countries across Africa where bras remain too expensive to produce.
BCR are donating £1,000 to research for every tonne of textiles they collect, that’s only 9,000 bras!
With over 30 million women in the UK you could really help make a difference!
When you make a deposit at a Bra Bank, your illfitting or unwanted underwear will be whisked away to start a new life on the other side of the world, where traders support their families selling textiles locally. Successful ventures like this keep many families in developing countries out of poverty whilst providing employment for people at home in the UK.
Any bras that are genuinely beyond redemption are dismantled and disposed of properly.
Its only a few days into 2014 and it is a great time to be sorting out your wardrobes ready for the summer months so now is as good a time as any to dig through and see if you have anything you could drop off at Jubilee House in Crewe.
