Work has begun in converting the former JJB Sports shop in Unit C of the Market Centre, Crewe into a new Poundworld discount store.
The JJB Sports shop at the Market Shopping Centre was one of 133 stores to close after the company – once the biggest sports retailer in Britain – went into administration in 2012.
Poundworld Retail recently opened a 4,000 sq ft store, their 1st in Crewe, within part of the site previously occupied by the former Comet Superstore at the Grand Junction Retail Park on 26th September 2013.
Details of the official opening of this first store opening can be seen HERE
The Market Shopping Centre Unit has remained vacant since Autumn 2012 with many speculations and rumours being spread around into WHAT was going to replace it.
There have been many requests from hundreds of town residents for a PRIMARK to move in.
Work started with the front evaluation being stripped and the current pedestrianised walkway from Argos to the Market Shopping Centre doors being risen to allow level access to the new Poundworld stores sliding doorways.
The Crewe News recently contacted The Market Shopping Centre regarding the current work taking place, but as of yet have made no comment.
