Police Investigate Suspected Arson In Crewe

Fire crews mobilised to a report of a fire in a bin compound behind Cartridge World on Nantwich Road in Crewe.
The incident happened around 3am in the early hours of Wednesday 28th August.

On arrival firefighters requested another fire engine as the fire had spread to the building and it was reported that people were trapped in the flats above so another fire engine was mobilised.
The fire had spread to the ground floor of the shop premises and another fire engine from Sandbach was requested for extra breathing apparatus.

Six breathing apparatus wearers used three jets to extinguish the fire with further covering jets also set in place.
A large industrial fan was used to disperse the smoke and the premises were searched.
Adjacent properties were also entered as they were smoke logged.
All persons were accounted for at the scene and the gas and electricity supply was isolated.
The police also attended the incident.
