St Luke’s Alsager Children’s Shop has opened its doors to the public after its grand opening extravaganza, which saw shoppers queuing out of the door for a chance to see what the new charity shop had in store.
Five-year-old Martha Harthill, from Alsager, was given the opportunity to cut the ribbon marking the official opening of the Alsager Children’s Shop.
The new charity shop, which is just for kids, proved to be a big hit with families, who came to the shop, based on Crewe Road, Alsager, to explore the wide ranging selection of excellent quality children’s clothes and exciting toys and games that are now on sale.
St Luke’s is now in need of volunteers to help set up and run the shop. So if you are a stay-at-home parent with time to spare between the school run, work part time, or are retired and can give a few hours of your time a week then please come and support St Luke’s Hospice.
The St Luke’s Alsager Children’s Shop has replaced the current St Luke’s charity shop in the village following customer feedback that there is an overwhelming demand for children’s clothes.
Proceeds from sales will help raise vital funds for St Luke’s (Cheshire) Hospice.
As the favoured hospice for the Alsager community, St Luke’s also houses its patient outreach centre in nearby Church Lawton.
Goods bought from the new shop will help raise vital funds for the hospice’s continuous work in the Alsager district.
Through its charity shops, St Luke’s receives many wonderful new or barely used condition items of children’s clothing,as well as toys and games that are in excellent condition, so has dedicated a shop to them.
The shop will support St Luke’s (Cheshire) Hospice’s invaluable work in caring for people from Mid and South Cheshire suffering from cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.
The hospice is a non-profit making organisation, funded by primarily from voluntary contributions, and needs £7,500 a day to keep its doors open.
Steven Holmes, Retail & Hospice Operations Manager for St Luke’s, said:
“We are delighted to officially open the doors to the St Luke’s Alsager Children’s Shop.
All guests and staff had a fantastic time at the grand opening.
We were delighted with the response we had, as it proved to be a great family day out, with people queuing outside just to get in!”
