South Cheshire College is delighted to announce the appointment of Jasbir Dhesi as its new Principal.
The former Yale College chief is now in post at the College’s Crewe campus and takes over the reigns from Peter Swift who retired at Christmas after five years at the helm.
During his career, Jasbir, known to staff and students as Dhesi, has demonstrated a proven track record of outstanding management and leadership.
He gave 21 years outstanding service to Yale College in Wrexham before he was named as Yale College Principal in September 2011.
Since 1996, Dhesi has fulfilled several senior management positions including Assistant Principal and Vice Principal for eight years.
He saw Yale College become one of the most successful colleges in the UK and was instrumental in developing the College’s international provision.
Vic Harris, Chair of the Corporation Board at South Cheshire College, said:
“As Chair of the Corporation, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dhesi as Principal.
Dhesi has an excellent track record in the further education sector and we are confident that he will help South Cheshire College to go from strength to strength in the months and years ahead.
His leadership skills will be essential in ensuring that the College continues to provide the best education and learning experience for students.”
South Cheshire College provides full time courses for 16 to 19 year olds and a range of part time programmes for more mature learners.
It also provides apprenticeships and other work related training programmes which can benefit businesses and their employees.
The College attracts students from Crewe and Nantwich and from areas further-a-field including Shropshire and Staffordshire.
“I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to lead the College through the next stage of its development.
I know that I am joining a special college with talented and dedicated staff and I’m looking forward to working with all the staff and students.
I’m also excited about working closely with the local community and building on the excellent links we have with local businesses.”
In 2010, the College unveiled a brand new £74 million campus which is an outstanding facility at the heart of the community.
