New Mayor of Crewe elected

Crewe Mayor 2014 (20)The Crewe Town Council voted on Tuesday 20th May 2014 to elect Cllr Pam Minshall and Cllr Benn Minshall as Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Crewe for 2014 – 2015.

Not only is this an auspicious occasion in its own right, the occasion may be unique in so far as the Council has elected Grandmother and Grandson to Civic Office on the same night.

Councillor Pam Minshall said:
‘Firstly, I want to pay my respects to the hard work put in by Cllr Faseyi and Cllr Martin over the last twelve months.
Irene (Faseyi) is a credit to the Town and it is fitting that she should be the first Mayor in the new era of the new Town Council’

‘I feel privileged to serve the Town where I have spent my life; Crewe is a Town I cherish.
It gave me great pleasure to participate in a ceremony where I was made mayor, but doubly so to have Benn elected as Deputy Mayor.
Of course we will be a great team!’

‘I have chosen the Leighton Hospital Scanner Appeal, the Cheshire Buddies Scheme and Churches Together in Crewe (CTIC Nightshelter) as my charities and hope that through the year we will raise a significant amount to help these charities.’

Cllr Benn Minshall said:
‘It is really great to serve on the Council, but also to serve as Deputy Mayor and support ‘Gran’ as the Mayor is something I could never have dreamed about.
I am committed to helping the town and looking forward to meeting even more people when out and about in the Town.’

Cllr P Minshall was elected after a resolution proposed by Cllr Mike Russan.
Cllr B Minshall was elected after a resolution proposed by Cllr Nan Walton.
