Nantwich Family Films @ 4 Launch, Hailed A Huge Success

Nantwich_Methodist_Church_CentreOver 80 people enjoyed the launch of ‘Nantwich Family Films @ 4’, a community cinema project in Nantwich on Sunday 19th January.

There was a party atmosphere at Nantwich Methodist Church, as children let off party poppers and Edward Timpson, MP for Crewe & Nantwich, and Children & Families’ Minister formally opened the project.

Mr. Timpson, who brought his son Sam along to the launch, said:
‘As a parent of young children myself I know all too well the pressures to keep them occupied each and every weekend.
This community cinema will be of great benefit to many families living in Nantwich who currently have to travel some distance to catch a film.
Congratulations to Geoff and his team at Nantwich Methodist Church on getting this excellent project up and running.”

Geoff Etherton, Children, Young People & Families worker welcomed those present and thanked the organisations who had provided funding enabling the launch of the project, including Nantwich Town Council, Nantwich Rotary, the Rank Foundation, the Co-Operative Community Fund, Chester & Stoke on Trent Methodist District Families Fund, and Cheshire South Methodist Circuit.

He encouraged those who had come to see Disney’s ‘Wreck it Ralph’ to interact through the Facebook page Nantwich Family Films at 4 and to spread the word to other families in the town.

Some children had their faces painted to get into the spirit of the film, and many people enjoyed popcorn from the cinema-style popcorn maker.

Films will continue to be screened on the 3rd Sunday of each month. The next screening will be on Sunday 16 February at 4pm, when the film will be Despicable Me 2.

Family tickets which cover up to 2 adults and 4 children are just £10 per family, and individual tickets cost just £3, available from either Nantwich Methodist Church or Nantwich Bookshop from 1st Feb.
Refreshments are on sale at low cost, and face painting is also available from 3.15pm for those who would like to get into the spirit of the film!
