Crewe-based family business, Holdfast Security Systems, is celebrating 25 successful years in the security industry.
Established in December 1989 by brothers Simon, Richard and Chris Griffiths, Holdfast offers a range of services from key cutting and lock servicing to installing intruder alarms for both individuals and major companies in the area as well as all over the country.
Holdfast has a highly specialised core team of four who are all qualified locksmiths and have passed British Locksmiths Institute examinations, for which employee John Douglas was awarded the Nigel Rose Bowl for receiving the highest examination marks in the UK.
The team marked the milestone anniversary with a celebratory event hosted at Holdfast, which was attended by the Mayor of Crewe – Councillor Pam Minshall – and Master Locksmiths Association President Gary Eckersall.
Co-founder of the business, Simon Griffiths, has been a dedicated member of the Master Locksmiths Association (MLA) – the leading trade association for the profession that was established to set and promote standards of conduct, practice and materials within locksmithing – for nearly 30 years.
He plays an active role as northern region secretary, a tutor and exam invigilator, as well as acting as editor of Keyways, the MLA members’ magazine.
Simon has also received the Chubb Award – the most prestigious and widely recognised award in the industry, acknowledging those who have done the most to further the profession.
Simon Griffiths commented:
“It’s remarkable to think that we’ve reached 25 years in business – it seems like only yesterday that my brothers and I first got the keys to the shop.
We expanded into the neighbouring property within three years of opening up and ever since then the business has continued to grow.
We are really proud of reaching this milestone and are thankful to the MLA for their support.
Belonging to a professional organisation that inspects and vets us has been invaluable as it sets us apart from our competitors, as well as giving our customers absolute confidence in us.”
Dr Steffan George, development director of the MLA, said:
“The MLA would like to congratulate Holdfast on this important anniversary – Simon and the team are a great example to others in the profession and are well-known for the high quality services they provide.
We look forward to seeing the business continue its growth in the coming months and years.”
