The Ashworth family from Crewe recently made a very generous donation to the Diabetic Clinic at Leighton Hospital in Crewe in honour of Mr Joe Ashworth.
Mr Ashworth was a patient at the Diabetic Clinic and sadly passed away recently whilst working in America. A collection was made at Mr Ashworth’s funeral and his family have raised and donated an amazing £902 to the clinic.
Lisa Ashworth, Mr Ashworth’s wife, and her family felt that, due to his relationship with the Diabetic Clinic and the fantastic work that the staff do, it would only be right to continue supporting the clinic, even though Mr Ashworth’s death was unrelated to his diabetes.
The clinic work alongside the patients and their families to ensure that they receive the support and care that they need in treating and managing their condition.
Lisa Ashworth said:
“I would like to thank the staff at Leighton Hospital’s Diabetic Clinic for their ongoing support and for the fantastic work that the staff do here. Raising money for the Diabetic Clinic felt right and is something that Joe would have wanted after the guidance and support he received when he visited the clinic.
I hope the £902 will make a big difference to the clinic and will help the staff and patients and families who visit.”
Laura Riddle, Charity Manager of Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity said:
“I would like to thank Lisa and her family for making such a generous and large donation to Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity during this difficult time.
Donations like this make a huge difference to the care that we can provide our patients with and will also make a huge impact to the staff at the Diabetic Clinic.”
The Trust have agreed with Mr Ashworth’s family that their tremendous donation will be put towards improving hospital-based care for patients with diabetes through providing further training opportunities for staff.
