Three Crewe artists are joining forces to exhibit their artworks, for this year’s 17th annual Cheshire Open Studios exhibition in the West Lodge of Queens Park on 24th, 27th and 28th September.
Sheila Blackburn, Julene Evans and Catherine M Evans are exhibiting under the collective title ThreeBee Art, although they are very different artists working in completely different fields.
Sheila Blackburn, a qualified florist, has developed her Flora Buttons concept of distinctive, handcrafted, floral-style brooches using buttons, beads and novelty charms.
Sheila lovingly designs and handcrafts each item, and offers a bespoke service creating gifts and favours for weddings and other special occasions.
This year her stunning red poppy designs have been especially popular, with the Royal British Legion benefiting from 50% of the price of each one sold.
Julene Evans is a fine art and conceptual photographer. Originally from the United States, in 2009 she married and moved from Los Angeles to Crewe.
Julene is largely self-taught, and she sees her images as an expression of not only her heart and mind but also an escape from the sometimes chaotic world around us.
Her current limited edition series is ongoing and is titled Nightmares and Other Dark Places.
She will be displaying a selection of images from this series along with a variety of other open edition images.
Catherine M Evans is a mixed-media artist working mainly in collage and textile art. She is a committed advocate of the healing nature of arts and crafts, and her ethos is that everyone can benefit from creativity, even if they think they’re not creative! Catherine will be displaying two collections at the exhibition: Expressions of Soul is a series of mixed-media collages conveying positive and meaningful messages.
Soul in Stitches is a collection of textile art projects, including funky bags created with handmade felt and other distinctive textiles.
The ThreeBee Art exhibition, as part of Cheshire Open Studios, is open 10am to 5pm on Wednesday 24th, Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th September, in the West Lodge at the main entrance of Queens Park, Victoria Avenue, Crewe, CW2 7SE.
Entry is FREE. Sheila, Julene and Catherine will be available during all opening hours to discuss their work, answer questions and demonstrate techniques. All artworks will be for sale and commissions can be taken.
