Full swing for Charity Golf Day in aid of Caudwell Children at Crewe Golf Club

Charity Golf DayWhat a super day Tuesday 30th April turned out to be, even the sun came along to join in for The Steve Phillips Charity Golf Day in aid of Caudwell Children at Crewe Golf Club.

Adam Standring has been supporting Steve Phillips for the last month in his fundraising.

Adam, who is just 7yrs old suffers from the genetic disorder Downs Syndrome, was chosen as a child Ambassador for The Caudwell Children in 2012. Anyone who has ever met Adam will agree, there is nothing to be down about!

The players began the charity golfing day at Crewe Golf Club in Haslington, with a muchly enjoyed bacon roll, following on with the golf team selection.

Tee off started at approximately 1.30pm, with all 18 holes completed by about 6pm under some glorious sunny spring day sunshine.

Charity Golf DayAdam was a very excited little boy because he was getting to spend the afternoon with 2 of his local footballing hero’s Steve Phillips & Luke Murphy of Crewe Alexandra Football Club, he also gave former Crewe Alex player who now plays as a midfielder for Manchester United since summer 2012, Nick Powell a run for his money as the coolest dude there!

Steve thinks of absolutely everything, he organised a golf buggy to support Adam if his little legs got tired to get him from one hole to another. During the afternoon we saw the odd set of rough area, ditch & bunker but we will not give away who ended up there!

Adams mum, Lorraine Standring even recieved an apology during the golfing session off one of the footballing pro’s for nearly slicing her head off.

Lorraine said:
All I can say he has a better aim with his legs than with his arms!

Steve Phillips & his team certainly organised a truly relaxing afternoon and a memory that will last forever.
An amazing £1600 was raised from the charity golf day alone, giving his fundraising efforts a very welcome boost towords his aim of £25000.

Lorraine continues:
Adam may have a learning disability and will struggle through life with academic things but he surely makes up for it with his social skills because yet again he proved to be star of the show!

One very proud mummy!
