Cheshire Fire Service attended The Limelight, a former nightclub in Crewe after a fire had broke out within the main building.
Emergency services were quickly on scene and road closures were put in place around the area.
Cheshire Police said:
Please be aware of current road closures at Hightown jct West Street and Gatefield Road at Crewe.
This is due to a building fire.
Firefighters within the building were seen breaking upper level windows to allow smoke to exit the building.
Large fans are in place at the main front entrance to help disperse the smoke from the building.
Cheshire Fire Service reported:
Two fire engines from Crewe, one from Nantwich and one from Alsager attended the scene at approximately 8:34pm (Wednesday).
Firefighters extinguished a fire at a derelict nightclub in Crewe.
Smoke was coming from the first floor of the building when the crews arrived and six firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used three hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze.
A covering jet was also put in place and two large fans used to clear smoke from the property.
A fire investigator has been requested to attend and crews remain at the scene.
The road has been closed in both directions by police.
The cause of the fire is yet unknown.
