Footy fever was back in the area last weekend when a fun filled charity football match took place in Haslington in aid of childrens charity Barnardos.
Lads and dads of local football team “Inter Galacticos” descended on Clay Lane to battle against staff of Dunelm in Crewe.
Dunelm staff have been really busy over the last few weeks organising stalls, prizes and players.
The evening weather was perfect for the people that came along to watch.
Mums, Dads and children were busy watching the football whilst treating themselves to goodies from the refreshments and gift stalls that kind people volunteered their time to run.
Dawn Evanson of Dunelm commented:
The whole sum raised is £850 and Kirtsy Green and I were astounded by it.
We had worked so hard to raise a total of £100 which was our goal and never dreamed that our target would be topped by such a huge amount.
We were blown away by the days turn out, it just goes to show how the people of Crewe are very kind hearted and giving.
The people of our little railway town truly have a massive heart.
I am so very grateful to all the staff from Dunelm that came and helped out on the evening and also to the lads and dads that played, they were all fantastic sports.
Thank you to all the customers who bought tickets in store and to all the local businesses who donated the superb prizes.
On behalf of Kirsty Green and myself a big massive heartfelt thank you and see you all next year.
The 11-a-side match started at 6pm and lasted 90 minutes.
The final score was 8-2 with Inter Galacticos crowned the overall winners.
The 8 goals were scored by:
Adam Socha – 4
Anthony Roe – 3
Jordan Ralphs – 1
Stephen Evanson of Inter Galacticos said:
