A 27 yr old woman & 38 yr old man from Crewe are in custody on suspicion of attempted murder following an assault in Crewe on Sunday 15th June.

Cheshire Police and the Ambulance Service were called to an incident just after 2pm on Sunday June 15th, following a report of a serious assault that had taken place in Vernon Street, Crewe.

38 yr old, Dlair Mahmood of Bateman Close, Crewe has appeared at Crewe Magistrate Court charged with section 18, wounding following the incident on Sunday 15th June 2014.
Dlair Mahmood who was originally arrested on suspicion of attempted murder is to be remanded in custody until he is to appear at Chester Crown Court on July 2nd 2014.

Inspector Christian Watkins said:
“Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who may have been a witness to this assault, and I would like to take this opportunity to reassure our local community that we firmly believe that this was an isolated incident, and that police are now working to establish the background and the circumstances around it.”

The 23 year old victim sustained a stab wound to the torso, he is in a serious but currently stable condition.
