The sun came out to shine on the inaugural CiFest on Sunday 13th July 2014 and everyone attending had a fantastic day out listening and watching four hours of spectacular acts and sampling a whole range of international food.
The feedback the Council has had on social media was the best so far.
Council Leader Kevin Hickson said:
‘Wow! What a day, we took this on with the support of the community led by Pastor Edwards and as one of the many who attended the event I have to say it was great to see the Town establish its own event.
The format worked for me and I saw nothing but smiles.
It gives us a base for future events and to repeat it next year on what I hope can be a bigger and grander scale.
We are immensely grateful to all the traders, artistes, volunteers and Councillors who helped to make the event such a success.’
Cllr Joy Bratherton, Chair of the Community and Environment Committee said:
‘The event came on the back of the successful World War Conference the previous day and it shows the difference a Town Council can make.
We now want to look forward to future events and I call upon all of the community to think about how you can support the event next year.
We know there are a tremendous number of talented people in Crewe and we are already looking for acts for next year’s festival.
Anyone interested in showcasing their talent should contact the Town Council.
If there are individuals and groups that want to show off foods of the World, then now is the time to get in touch so we can keep you informed and arrange to talk to you next year.’
‘Traders in the Town have been upbeat about the Festival, footfall was up on the previous Sunday and traders have expressed a desire that more happens in the Town Centre. Watch this space!’
Town Mayor, Pam Minshall
‘It was a privilege to open and close the event, I’m proud of the townspeople for attending in such numbers and of the hard effort that went in from all the volunteers. I can’t wait for next year’
