Crewe Brass announced in January this year that they were in need of a new home after being given notice to leave their long term bandroom at Camm Street gym in Crewe.
The response to this was overwhelming with an incredible number of groups, organisations and venues coming forward to offer their support…and the band are delighted to announce that they have a new home!
From the beginning of May, Shavington Primary School will host the band for their twice weekly rehearsals and look forward to welcoming them to the school and to developing a close working relationship.
Headteacher of the school Dan Thomas is delighted with the new arrangements:
‘The school is in the heart of the community and is a fantastic resource and venue, we are delighted to be able to support Crewe Brass and see this as the beginning of us starting to work together.
Many of our pupils here at Shavington Primary are having music lessons as part of our curriculum so having a brass band based at the school will provide inspiration for our young musicians’
Jamie Meredith, musical director of Crewe Brass is equally as pleased with the band’s new home:
‘Crewe Brass is a community organisation and we’re incredibly proud of the way the band works with local charities and organisations and this new bandroom firmly cements our position in the local community.
Most of the players in the band started out at school and having the opportunity to work with the pupils of Shavington Primary School in the future give us the chance to give something back’
