Congleton Library is pulling out all the stops to celebrate World Book Night (Thursday, April 25) with a special programme of public readings and a free book for every visitor.
Thousands of volumes will be given out to people across the country on World Book Night to encourage them to experience the joy of reading.
The focal point for Congleton Library will be a ‘Read Around Live’ event, where members of Congleton Writers’ Forum will be performing readings of their own work.
The event is open to aspiring poets, novelists, writers, or indeed anyone who enjoys the telling of a good story.
Tickets for the event are just £2, available from the library, or the writers’ forum. The price includes refreshments and the free book. People can also pay for entry on the night.
Titles included in the 200-book giveaway include novels by Phillippa Gregory, Jasper Fforde and Sebastian Barry as well as the classic Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson.
Details of all library events are available at the library on the Congleton Library webpage.
