Conference To Commemorate The Outbreak Of The Great War

Crewe Town Council is set to host a Conference on the Great War between 10am and 4pm on the 12th July at South Cheshire College.

Speakers include:

  • Steve McGreal who will talk on the Cheshire Bantams,
  • Peter Hart, much respected author and expert on the Great War who will deliver the keynote speech on First Ypres and
  • local author Mark Potts, who will launch his new book on the war dead of Crewe and Nantwich.

Cllr Joy BrathertonTickets for the event are still available and may be secured by contacting the town Council, the £10 charge also includes a buffet lunch.

Cllr Joy Bratherton, who is leading on the World War 1 events for the Town Council said:
“It is very important that we as a Town Council commemorate all those who served and those who fell in the Great War.

 

Through this conference and the many other activities we have planned over the next four years, we will endeavour to honour their memories and introduce new generations to the events and sacrifices made during the war.”
