Cheshire East Council is offering its congratulations to Crewe Alexandra after their stunning victory in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final on Sunday.
The Alex claimed their second major trophy in just 11 months when home-grown players Luke Murphy and Max Clayton secured a 2-0 win over Southend United at Wembley Stadium.
It follows their League Two Play-off Final win against Cheltenham Town in May 2012, when they secured promotion to League One by the same scoreline.
Cheshire East Council aims to develop strong and supportive communities and is confident this will go a long way to creating a sense of good feeling in Crewe and Cheshire East.
Councillor Michael Jones, Leader of Cheshire East Council, said:
“What great news this is for the area. Well done to Crewe Alexandra.
They are a great club and the players deserved their victory”
“They had a great support down at Wembley and I am looking forward to being able to help the club celebrate its achievements at some stage”.
