Charity Calendar Girls In The Dog House

St Patrick ThemeTwo local girls have chosen to take part in a charity calendar in aid of Diabetes Uk.

Lisa Sandland and Lauren Bermingham are to feature in a special ‘Calendar Girls’ styled calendar for 2014.

Toni Pownall, the photographer behind the camera for the calendar, was first given the idea, when (in joke) it was mentioned to herself by Emma Potter (Miss August), But Toni thought it was a positive idea and set about asking around for models to volunteer.
Toni was astounded by the response from ladies wanting to get involved.

Lisa Sandland who at the time of the initial group shoot back in January was a mother-to-be and Lauren Bermingham who currently is a mother-to-be, are to be the likely ladies featured on the month of March with a St Patricks Day theme. Lisa and Lauren were sent to ‘The Dog House’ for the Photo Shoot.

Lisa & Lauren said:
We know of many friends and family who are life long sufferers of Diabetes, and when Toni was asking for models we both thought lets get involved to show our support.
We were not 100% sure what was to be expected but Toni has worked with us throughout, and has really made us feel calm and relaxed.

Lisa - Toni - LaurenAfter Lisa & Lauren had signed up to be included with a theme to suit the month they were to feature in they then set upon finding a location for the March photo shoot. Lisa did not have to look far, Lisa’s neighbour was on hand to help out.

Mike Powell supplied the perfect setting with his very own purpose built sunhouse that doubles as a garden bar which has been strangely named ‘The Dog House’.

Mike explains, Why the name?;
Many a time I feel like I am in ‘The Dog House’ so I thought what a great name for the Garden Bar.
I now have no quarrels about being sent to ‘The Dog House’.
When I heard what Lisa & Lauren were preparing to do, I felt that I wanted to help these ladies in getting that perfect picture for the calendar that is aimed at raising vital funds for such a worth while cause, Diabetes UK and thought The Dog House would provided a great set.

Toni who is a Diabetes sufferer herself, is the photgrapher who has been spending tireless hours working on bringing Crewe’s own ‘Calendar Girls’ to the town.

Toni PownallToni Said:
It’s been great fun and very much a superb laugh from the start, I couldn’t have done this without the sixteen ladies. With all their help they have genuinely made it really easy to put together. They have all volunteered themselves, even after it was mentioned to be calendar girls semi nude style calender. They all carried on. I must say, I am very proud of these sixteen ladies, they have been amazing.

The calendar will be on sale to raise funds for Diabetes UK and will be unveiled at a special launch evening which is to be held on 30th August 2013 at The Crewe Alex Carlsberg Suite from 7.30pm – 11.30pm.
