Brave Lions Hit The Heights In Snowdon Challenge

Youngsters are set to brave new heights by taking part in a fun Climbing Challenge at South Cheshire College.

Lions Snowdon ChallengeThe Crewe and Nantwich Lions Club has teamed up with South Cheshire College to host the ‘Snowdon Challenge’ event which will take place on Sunday 24th November, 2013 (9.30am-5.00pm).

Children between the ages of 8 and 10 from schools and clubs across the area are being invited to take part in the FREE event on the College’s impressive state-of-the-art Climbing Wall.

Ten teams of ten children will embark on 10 climbs of the wall to complete a total of 1000 metres of climbing during the day – equivalent to the height of Mount Snowdon which is the highest peak in Wales.

Lions ClubTrampolining and other fun activities will also be available in the College’s Sports Arena on the day.

Crewe and Nantwich Lions supports numerous local initiatives and helps others by raising money for worthy causes.

Tom Dunlop, President of the Crewe and Nantwich Lions Club, has worked closely with the College to bring this event to fruition.

Although the event is free, a donation to the President’s nominated charity, which is Springfield School in Crewe, is expected.

Tom will hand over a cheque to the school at the end of his year as president, which will be the culmination of different fundraising activities.
Money raised will help to furnish the school’s new building and help to support the children’s individual and learning needs.

South Cheshire CollegeGraham Chafer, Head of Community Leisure at South Cheshire College, said:
“We want as many young people as possible to come and take part in the Snowdon Challenge.
This is the first time that we will have staged such an event and we are pleased to be supporting the Crewe and Nantwich Lions Club by helping them to raise money for Springfield School which is a very worthy local cause.
This promises to be a fun event for local children and we are very much looking forward to hosting it.”

The Climbing Centre is a fantastic facility which gives people the opportunity to develop their existing climbing skills or learn from scratch.
Instruction and supervision is provided for beginners and novices and the venue is ideal for birthday parties and team building sessions. Adult pay and climb sessions are priced at £6 and juniors can climb during one-off sessions for just £3.

The Mount Snowdon challenge will take place under expert supervision but parents are welcome to come along and watch their children in climbing action.

Graham added:
“We look forward to welcoming lots of children on the day and hope they have a fun time and enjoy the impressive climbing facilities at South Cheshire College.”
