‘The Very Best in Stand Up’ returns to Nantwich Civic Hall on Friday 5th September with the first show of a new season of comedy which will take us up to, and into 2015.
If you’ve never been to ‘The Very Best in Stand Up’ at Nantwich Civic Hall before the idea is simple.
To bring the best acts available from the international comedy circuit to our town for a price that everyone can afford. Each show consists of 4 acts, hopefully offering something for everyone. September’s show is no exception with 3 acts making their debut in Nantwich & a closing act who took the roof off when he played 3 years ago.
The compere & host for the evening is TIERNAN DOUIEB. Tiernan has been doing the stand-up thing for a long while now, in that time that he’s graced many a stage with his beardy face, playing all over the UK and abroad. His friendly manner and fast paced gags have made him a highly sought after compere and act on the circuit. During the last year Tiernan Douieb has performed comedy all over the world & starred in Channel 4’s hit sitcom ‘Fresh Meat’.
The first act of the night is JONNY AWSUM. After completing an eight-year comedy apprenticeship as barman at The Chuckle Club, Jonny exploded onto the professional comedy scene with a crowd-pleasing set that’s seen him smash hundreds of gigs all around the world. With his likeable style and trusty guitar, Jonny’s musings include everything from the white lies he tells his girlfriend to his new home town of Croydon and the memory of his first love at eight years old and his Edinburgh smash hit show ‘Playtime’ was a sell-out from start to finish.
Canadian comic PETE JOHANNSON made his first forays into Hollywood after a wildly successful debut at the Montreal Just For Laughs festival, where appearing in one of the smaller shows he signed a deal with Warner Brothers. Fresh from touring the UK with Reginald D Hunter and following another run at the Edinburgh Festival, Pete will bring his assured and relaxed comedy style to Nantwich Civic for the very first time.
Closing the show is a man coming back to Nantwich Civic Hall after a fantastic set for us in 2011, SOL BERNSTEIN is back! After a storied career playing some of the biggest venues in the world – Carnegie Hall, The Palladium and Caesar’s Palace included, Sol’s coming to the end of a near 70 year career that’s been showbiz from start to finish and has anecdotes and morals that – through Sol’s worldly experience – will only help serve to help you. If you’ve seen Sol before, then you’ll know he’s fantastic to see again and if you’re yet to see the man Sinatra described as “The Greatest”, then he’s closing Septembers show. You’d better believe it!
The show takes place on Friday, September 5th and tickets are on sale now priced at £10.
