A Game Of Two Halves For Nantwich Town vs Stocksbridge Park Steels

Nantwich Town 2 – 1 Stocksbridge Park Steels

Nantwich Town FCIt truly was a game of two halves as a first Nantwich goal for Steve Foster and a late strike from super sub, Ben Deegan, helped Dabbers forget Danny South’s goal and a tame first period.

Nantwich started quicker than recent home games and Foster blazed over from close on 12 minutes.

The men in green struggled to create against a firm Steels defence for the remainder of the first half.

Danny South finished calmly on 21 minutes after he was played through by a Matthew Telling pass deep in Stocksbridge territory.

Alex Frost was close to levelling matters two minutes later with a thumping header at the back post which flew wide.

Steels goalkeeper Jack Ward made a fabulous save on 52 minutes to deny a trademark Harrop freekick. The quality of the set piece perhaps deserved a goal.

Harrop was up to his tricks again on 57 minutes receiving a clever back heel from Foster to drill towards the Steels back post however Harry Clayton could not make a telling touch.

Clayton whizzed the ball across goal on 64 minutes but a Steels defender cleared.

Foster equalised on 71 minutes with his first Nantwich goal after brilliant wing play from Harrop again.

Harrop earned his man of the match award with another brilliant assist on 85 minutes clipping to the back post for Ben Deegan to score a winner for the second successive game.
