A Charity Darts Marathon Has Taken Place Across Cheshire East

A super 24 hour charity Darts Marathon has taken place across Cheshire East this weekend in aid of Springfield School in Crewe.

24 Hour Darts MarathonThe event has now finished and we went down to Rileys a few times during the whole thing to see how the lads were coping.
At the start they were full of energy and really threw themselves into the task in hand.

We went back to the venue at 1am to see how they were once they had hit halfway.
Some were feeling a little tired but were pressing on with things and had already hit an amazing 165 legs.

By the time 1pm Sunday afternoon was upon them they were really looking forward to the end as it was very hot and most had been up early on Saturday morning.
Once the last leg was completed at 1pm it was off home for the guys for a well earned bath and sleep.

Springfield School in Crewe is a purpose built special school serving East Cheshire and the surrounding area.
The school offers full or part time education for children aged from 4 to 19.
The school provides for children and young people with complex learning difficulties.

As part of the continuous improvement of the school they are building a fantastic new sports barn which will cater for the needs of all of the pupils.
The facility will include indoor games area, floor level trampoline, sensory rooms, swimming pool and changing facilities.

In order to raise funds to equip this new building they held this marathon which started at 1pm on Saturday 13th July through to 1pm on Sunday 14th July.

The initial aim was to raise £6,000 in order to purchase a floor level trampoline and soft play equipment.
They would like to comfortably pass this initial target to contribute to further items such as sensory equipment.

There were six venues across the region playing darts.
Each player needed to get sponsored for the number of legs they completed within the time period allowed.

The venues taking part were:

  • Rileys Crewe
  • Rookery Tavern Sandbach
  • Swan N Chequers Sandbach
  • Kings Lock Middlewich
  • White Horse Middlewich
  • The Turnpike Middlewich

Each participating player was given a t-shirt for taking part in the event which will carried details of the charity and the event as well as the sponsor company details.
Each venue was also provided with a brand new Winmau dart board for the event.

The organisers will be providing prizes based upon the following :-

Venue to complete the most legs of 501 / 701
Venue to raise the most amount of money
Most 180’s hit / Highest Checkout / Least Darts

They are also planning to have a presentation evening and charity raffle / auction at a venue to be confirmed. They already have raffle / auction prizes secured as follows with more to follows :-
